| Movie review Zombieland - Examiner Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:43 AM PST This weekend the movie going public will finally get a look at "Zombieland". What a treat for horror and comedy lovers. The story starts at the end. Most of the world has been turned into walking maggot filled zombies. There are however a few survivors, unlikely as they are. A young man (Jesse Eisenberg) who can never catch a break. However, he does have a list of rules for staying safe from the zombie population. My favorite is the "double tap. Watch the film to see what that means and find out the other rules... they may save your life one day during the upcoming zombie apocalypse. The Eisenberg character explains things in the movie through voice over. His narration is very funny. I also laughed at his dead pan facial expressions in all major scenes. Then there's the southern fried S***-kicker whose favorite thing is to kill zombies, in creative ways. Well, it's not his favorite thing... that would be twinkies. Woody Harrelson is so good in this movie I will forgive him for any bad movie he has chosen in the past. Redeems himself totally with his funny portral in this hilarious comedy horror film. Woody and Eisenberg meet up with two young women, a twenty something scam artists and her precocious preteen sister (Abaigal Breslin and Emma Stone). There aim is to get to a theme park (looks like Magic Mountain in LA to me.) The girls believe there are no zombies there. Is there ever a place zombie-free in these movies? What they incur on the way to the theme park is for me to know and for you to find out. All that I will admit is that it is a blast. Bill Murray has a cameo role and he's hilarious. Director Ruben Fleischer's film was inspired by "Shaun of the dead". I found this film to be just as funny. "Shaun" is a classic; and "Zombieland" will be too. Cast Jesse Eisenberg Woody Harrelson Emma Stone Abaigal Breslin Amber Heard Bill Murray Derek Graf "Zombieland" also has a butt-kickin' soundtrack. Go see it. The "Zombieland" panel at "Comic-Con" was packed and everyone was happy.

| Tom Cruise's movie invaded by bulls - Monsters and Critics Posted: 23 Nov 2009 01:40 AM PST
Seven animals ran through the streets of Cadiz, Southern Spain, where the Hollywood actor\'s latest project \'Knight and Day\' - which also stars Cameron Diaz - was being shot on Sunday (22.11.09). Two women were injured during the incident, which ended when the bulls were captured on a beach, and all work on the movie has been suspended by the major\'s office. A spokesperson for the major\'s office said: "Nothing will be filmed in Cadiz until we have a new plan that guarantees the safety of local residents." Rehearsals for scenes which re-enact the famous running of the bulls, which takes place annually in Pamplona, Northern Spain, had been taking place last week. Neither Tom or Cameron were present on Sunday but both are scheduled to fly into the country this weekend. This content has passed through fivefilters.org. | Another Green Lantern Fan Made Movie Trailer - Slashfilm.com Posted: 23 Nov 2009 02:37 AM PST
Earlier this year, we featured an awesome fan made Green Lantern movie trailer, which was sort of a mash-up, combining scenes and sequences from a bunch of different movies with composited special effects. /Film reader movieboy has sent us another fan made Green Lantern movie trailer, this time a teaser trailer. This one isn't nearly as good, buts more of a traditional fan film — shot and edited independently. I thought it was good enough to pass along. Check it out after the jump.

| The Men Who Stare at Goats (movie) - Daily Press Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:07 AM PST LOS ANGELES — The vampire romance "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" sucked up $140.7 million in its first three days and pulled in a total of $258.8 million worldwide, according to studio estimates Sunday. The No. 1 domestic debut for Summit Entertainment's "New Moon" was more than twice the $69.6 million haul over the same weekend last year for "Twilight," the first in the franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's novels. "Obviously, with the success of 'Twilight' itself, sequels being what they are will generate X-number of dollars more, particularly if it's a satisfying sequel," said Richie Fay, head of distribution for Summit. "New Moon" placed third on the all-time domestic chart behind last year's $158.4 million opening weekend for the Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight" and 2007's $151.1 million haul for "Spider-Man 3." Among the top-10 all-time openings, "New Moon" is the only one that came outside of Hollywood's busiest time, the summer season. The movie adaptation of Meyer's next "Twilight" chapter, "Eclipse," arrives in the heart of summer, next June 30. Overall, Hollywood had its second-biggest nonholiday weekend ever, with final numbers expected to come in slightly behind the $260 million the industry rang up over the weekend of July 18, 2008, when "The Dark Knight" opened. Compared to the same weekend last year, business was up 59 percent. "New Moon" continues the story of teen romance between a school girl and a vampire (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson), with the sequel adding a love triangle with a werewolf (Taylor Lautner). Opening at No. 2 domestically this weekend was the Warner Bros. football drama "The Blind Side" with $34.5 million. The film stars Sandra Bullock in the real-life story of Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher, who was a homeless teen taken in by a wealthy family and enrolled in private school. As with "New Moon," females were the big fans of "The Blind Side," accounting for 59 percent of the audience, an unusual split for a movie with a sports theme. The previous weekend's top movie, Sony's disaster tale "2012," slipped to third-place with $26.5 million, raising its domestic total to $108.2 million.

| Movie review Pontypool Sound Virus makes "Frenzied mob" - Examiner Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:43 AM PST In the small town of Pontypool, Ontario, Canada, the english language started passing a virus from person to person. This made them murderous. They were not Zombies. They were not Ragers. They were babbling idiots that might talk you to death with only one word. But what word? Figuring out which word or words is part of the plot. They would also bite you, but apparently not eat much of you. Cannibals?....no. What the heck are they. They are "Frenzied". They are a whole new type of mass murdering people. Pontypool is a small seemingly charming town in Ontario, Canada. (There is a PontyPool in South Wales also, that is not the right Pontypool.) One morning, former shock jock , Grant Mazzy, played by Stephen McHattie is driving to work to start his job as a morning time talk jock. . He use to be a top jock, a superstar, but no more. Now he is Pontypool's own Howard Stern, but his producer wants him to just do the news, report school closures due to snow and take some calls. Ho Hum. (But not for long.) The morning quickly takes a sharp turn. Reports start coming in from the small town, first via the "Sunshine Helicopter", and then from callers. People are attacking people, babbling and repeating certain words. They kill, they chew. (I never figured out if they swallowed.) The story revolves around the radio station, the featured characters are trying figuring out how the frenzy is passed, and trying to stay sane and frenzy free. To tell you much more would be spoiler territory. I have told you above what this movie isn't (and a bit of what it is), let me tell you how this movie is. It's pretty good. Canadian made. Well filmed. Acting is good. The others in the cast besides McHattie are Lisa Houle as the radio producer, Sydney Bryer. Georgina Reilly as Laura Ann the radio engineer and Hrant Alianak as Dr. Mendez. Dr. Mendez's clinic is the first to fall to the "Frenzied". Directing is Bruce Mcdonald who also directed "The Tracey Fragments", from a script by Tony Burgess. The script is based on Burgess's book, Pontypool, Changes Everything. This movie was released May 29th at one theater in NY. It is available on IFC VOD. We paid 5.99 which is a few dollars more than the regular price with our cable company. I don't regret it a bit. I enjoyed the freshness, but did wish I could of seen more than just the inside of the radio station. I would of liked to of seen the city going "frenzied". Here's a trailer.
