Quirky rockers the FLAMING LIPS are planning another movie adventure after their 2008 film CHRISTMAS ON MARS became a hit among fans - and they want JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE to star in it.

The group are hoping to turn family members and friends into stars by recruiting them for their latest film project, which will be filmed in and around the band's native Oklahoma City.

But frontman Wayne Coyne admits he's keen to land a few big stars as well.

He tells Billboard.com, "I'm in the process of begging Justin Timberlake to be part of it; if I'm lucky I'll be able to wear him down in another year."

Timberlake first teamed up with the group for a performance on Britain's Top of the Pops in 2002, during which the singer wore a dolphin costume and played the bass

Man Stabbed With Meat Thermometer in California Movie Theater - FOX News

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 07:08 PM PST

LANCASTER, Calif. — Authorities say a man was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer after asking a woman to silence her cell phone during a screening of the film "Shutter Island" at a Southern California movie theater.

Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says the stabbing happened Feb. 27 during a screening of the Martin Scorsese film in Lancaster. He says the two suspects remain at large.

Whitmore says the victim had complained about a woman sitting nearby who was talking on her phone during the movie. He says the woman left with two men, but the men returned minutes later and stabbed the victim in the neck.

Two other people in the theater came to the victim's aid and also were hurt. The man was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The sheriff's office says it knew the weapon used was a meat thermometer because the suspects left it behind. No further details were released.

Miley Cyrus 'Delights' Sharing Movie Experience With Liam Hemsworth In ... - Post Chronicle

Posted: 05 Mar 2010 07:03 AM PST

Miley Cyrus loved working with new boyfriend Liam Hemsworth on 'The Last Song'.

The 17-year-old singer-and-actress – who is in a relationship with the Australian star – says it was fantastic to be able to share the movie making experience with someone you care about.

She said: "Working with Liam was a lot of fun because this is something new for both of us. It's cool being able to share that with somebody."

Miley is glad she took the role as rebellious teen Ronnie Miller because it was a chance to get away from the 'Hannah Montana' character that catapulted her to fame.

She added: "This is his breakout moment in the States and this is my breakout moment away from what people know me as."

Discussing the movie, which sees Ronnie slowly fall in love with Liam's character Will Blakelee, Miley said: "Ronnie and Will have two very different backgrounds.

"She's a little more independent, doesn't have a lot of money and he's very wealthy, very taken care of by his parents.

"He definitely does have it a little bit easier on the surface, that's what she thinks, but it turns out that his life has been just as crazy as Ronnie's."

'The Last Song' is released in the US on March 31. (c) BANG
