Video Teaser: Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song' 3-D Movie - Desi Hits! Posted: 27 Jan 2010 09:48 AM PST After the success of James Cameron's latest movie "Avatar" everyone seems to be jumping on the 3-D bandwagon! And even after his death, pop icon Michael Jackson has released a 3-D video for his "Earth Song" that is set to premiere during this weekend's Grammy Awards ceremony. The clip shows a girl walking in a jungle with butteflies flying all around to the tunes of MJ's voice. "It starts out with some beautiful images of the world and our environment, and Michael's childlike love for animals and birds and dolphins. It introduces a little girl, a beautiful little girl who at one point in the film basically goes to sleep, and when she wakes up — she's in a forest and it's very pastoral — and when she wakes up, all of a sudden it's all changed and it's bad. The environment is being affected and trees are being cut down," Grammy co-executive producer Ken Ehrlich told MTV.com. Fans will have to wait until this weekend to watch the entire movie during a tribute to the late King of Pop, but you can already now get a sneak peak of what's to come! Check out this video teaser for the late Michael Jackson's "Earth Song" and tell us what you think!

Next "Harry Potter" movies coming in 3D - Reuters UK Posted: 27 Jan 2010 12:30 AM PST By Carl DiOrio LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Warner Bros. will release the next two "Harry Potter" films in 3D, a move underscoring the post-"Avatar" rush for extra-dimensional box office returns. Studio executives around town have been scrutinizing film slates for opportunities to expand forays into 3D releasing. Warners has been testing footage from its upcoming "Clash of the Titans" -- converted into 3D by an outside vendor -- and the tests have gone so well that the studio has decided to release not only "Titans" but also the two-part "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in 3D. Warners refused to confirm the decisions Tuesday, but an announcement on "Titans" -- a co-production with studio-based producer Legendary Pictures -- is expected by week's end. Official word on the "Potter" pics also is awaited. Conversion expenses have been coming down, so each film will cost just $5 million (3.1 million pounds) to change into 3D. Warners also will absorb an additional $5 million expense per picture to pay for 3D glasses for exhibitors handling the movies. In a related move, Warners will push back the release of "Titans" one week to April 2. "Deathly Hallows: Part I" is set to unspool November 19, and "Part II" is slotted for July 15, 2011. The only previous "Potter" pic to dabble in 3D was last year's "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," which included brief footage viewable in 3D in Imax venues. It was unclear whether "Potter" author J.K. Rowling had to OK the move into the third dimension. As for the impact on box office prospects for the final two "Potter" sequels, consider the more imminent situation with "Titans." A remake of a 1981 film starring Laurence Olivier, "Titans" previously might have been expected to fetch no more than $200 million domestically, and even that was an aggressive projection. Released in 3D, Warners figures to reap well north of $200 million, with 2007's $211 million domestic grosser "300" considered a beatable benchmark. Continued... "Avatar" beats "Titanic" as world's biggest movie ever - Reuters Posted: 26 Jan 2010 12:56 PM PST LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Sci-fi spectacular "Avatar" has surpassed "Titanic" to become the highest-grossing movie worldwide, distributor 20th Century Fox said on Tuesday. The worldwide total for the James Cameron movie stands at $1.859 billion after Monday's sales, beating the $1.843 billion haul racked up by "Titanic" in 1997-1998, said Greg Brilliant, spokesman for the News Corp-owned studio. The data are not adjusted for inflation. "Avatar" broke the seemingly insurmountable record set by "Titanic" in little over six weeks, handing Cameron the remarkable feat of directing the world's two biggest movies of all time. It has reigned at the top of North American box office for six weeks. It has also led the field in France, China, Germany and Russia. The action-adventure movie, starring Sigourney Weaver, is set in 2154 and tells the tale of a disabled ex-Marine sent to Earth to infiltrate a race of 10-foot (3-meter) blue aliens and persuade them to let his employer mine their homeland for natural resources. The film took more than five years to make and was reportedly one of the most expensive films, with a budget of at least $300 million. It has wowed both critics and fans, winning a Golden Globe last week. It is expected to garner an Oscar nomination next month.
