Next 'Bourne' movie to be prequel without Damon! - New Kerala Posted: 01 Feb 2010 08:20 PM PST
London, Feb 2 : Hollywood actor Matt Damon insists his next outing in the 'Bourne' action franchise is at least 'five years away' because movie bosses want the upcoming fourth film to be a prequel without him.
The thriller series was thrown into jeopardy last year when its director Paul Greengrass announced he will no longer be involved with the pictures but Damon subsequently confirmed his commitment to the franchise, reports imdb.com. The star has now confirmed it will be a long time before he is back on the big screen as tough guy Jason Bourne, because there will be a prequel featuring a new actor first. "There'll probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director before we do another one. We're probably five years away from another one. We've got to get a script," he said. --IANS

Syfy Announces New Saturday Original Movies - Coming Soon! Posted: 01 Feb 2010 12:20 PM PST Syfy announced today it is adding a new Saturday Original Movies genre to its popular mix, re-imagining classic fairy tales, legends and pop culture characters -- from Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin and Sinbad the Sailor to Hansel and Gretel -- beginning with the premiere of Beauty and the Beast on Saturday, February 27, at 9pm ET. Starring Estella Warren (Planet of the Apes), Beauty and the Beast is not the traditional Disney fairy tale. In this gritty celebration of Valentine's Day, a young Beauty (Warren) with a gift for healing helps a deformed Prince (Rhett Gilles, "Wraiths of Roanoke") regain his throne and defeat the ruthless nobleman who wants to be king -- and then together they try to destroy a power-hungry witch. Beauty and the Beast was directed by David Lister and written by Gavin Scott. Said Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy: "By turning familiar timeless stories inside out -- like retelling Little Red Riding Hood as a werewolf tale or envisioning a dark version of Shrek -- we're creating an entertaining new genre for our popular Saturday night movie franchise, which has become the television destination for fans of action-packed independent sci-fi, horror and fantasy films." Vitale also announced a preliminary development slate for the new line of Syfy Original Movies including: Red -- A young woman who is a descendant of the real Little Red Riding Hood brings her fianc home, where he meets the family and learns about their business hunting werewolves. He's skeptical until bitten by a werewolf. When her family insists he must be killed, Red tries saving him. Hansel -- Twenty years after his encounter with the witch, a grown-up Hansel returns to the haunted forest, seeking revenge. But there's a surprise waiting his sister Gretel (who he thought had been killed) is the witch's protge. 8th Voyage of Sinbad -- Sinbad searches for the golden head of the long lost Colossus of Rhodes and, instead, discovers an island where the mythical Minotaur still rules, protecting a vast treasure. Sinbad and his crew have to battle the creature and its minions to get the treasure and save their own lives. Aladdin (working title) -- After accidentally releasing an evil genie from an ancient lamp, Aladdin must find a way to imprison the genie again before it wreaks havoc on the world.
Black Forest -- A group of nave tourists take a sightseeing tour into a supposed enchanted forest, where they encounter evil creatures from the world of fantasy. Trapped in the Black Forest, their only hope of survival is fighting their way out. Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. Available tools: PDF Newspaper, Full Text RSS, Term Extraction. |
Rumor: Patrick Stewart May Appear in Mad Max: Fury Road - First Showing Posted: 01 Feb 2010 01:00 AM PST Rumor: Patrick Stewart Might Be in Mad Max 4: Fury Road?February 1, 2010 Make it so! I hate reporting these kind of rumors, but after the Grammys last night, there's not much else to report on. Ain't It Cool News got a random and unconfirmed email "report" from a fan in Australia claiming that it might be possible that Patrick Stewart could appear in George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. We just announced four new cast members last week for this new sequel, which means it's definitely gearing up to start shooting sometime in the next few months. And if Stewart is in Oz and if he actually said "he may be back here soon to film a movie with George Miller" then it sounds like it could be true. You never know? Here's the important email bits from AICN that potentially reveal Stewart's involvement in Fury Road:
I don't know if I trust this "TrekGirl." However, at this point (since Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome was released in 1985), the Mad Max franchise has certainly made its way into the mainstream, and I don't think it would be hard for George Miller to cast some big names in this sequel. In fact, I can see Stewart playing the lead villain or some post-apocalyptic punk badass. All of the other baddies (especially in Road Warrior) were bald or had some crazy mohawks or something like that, and that's exactly the kind of character I could imagine him playing. No word yet on if this is legit, but for now it's only a rumor. We'll keep you updated!

Don't get me wrong, I love Connery but to suggest that things took a turn after LXG is a bit naive. twittwit on Feb 1, 2010 Leave a CommentFive Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. Available tools: PDF Newspaper, Full Text RSS, Term Extraction. |
